Oceanic Dome
I was asked to create a world that tested human form factors in a designed immersive setting.
As far as environments go, the underwater sea is ripe with beauty, and emotion, It’s a perfect place to create both a sense of overwhelming movement and calm serenity. I decided to take a stylized/abstract approach to underwater life. Schools of fish we’re reduced to simplified geometric forms, whales we’re represented as flat planes of color, gliding through the water.
One of the beauties of animation, is that you can evoke character, form and presence, with out diving into photo realism. A simplified graphic approach, focuses an audiences attention to the core emotions within an experience.
