“Astronaut Diner” is a cinemagraph of an astronaut sitting in a diner by the window. This part of the Little Astronaut series is a moving picture about a chill moment to look ahead to better times. After a hard day of work, the astronaut gives themself time to relax and a cup of coffee. 

This cinemagraph was created by composing my own custom miniatures. Everything is digitally designed on my computer. Then, I printed them into physical form using my 3d printer. Every piece, including the checkerboard tiles, is hand-painted. The diner interior is designed based on retro diner interior design to add some nostalgic feel to the cinemagraph. The cloudy sky that I photographed when I was sightseeing is chosen as the background to strengthen the dream and surreal feeling of the diner. I also add coffee steam to reinforce the chill vibe of this captured moment.

Mainly influenced by surreal art and popular video game culture. I use some visual elements from surreal paintings, such as Salvador Dali. Also, the video game elements I use for this cinemagraph are the isometric viewing angle and subject.
